Tasting Notes: Tangerine juice, red fruits, caramel

Producers: Starry Family
Location: Amatitlán, Guatemala
Altitude: 1500m
Varietals: Yellow and Red Bourbon
Bio: This is another wonderful coffee from the Amatitlán region of Guatemala. It’s pleasantly round & caramel-like when hot, and becomes juicy and brighter as it cools.
Cool story and connection behind this coffee: The Lirios de Belé´n farm neighbors the La Giralda farm (previous Guatemalan coffee we featured). Jose and the team at La Giralda don’t have a mill to process their coffee, so they actually move their coffee over the Lirios farm after harvesting for processing before bagging and exporting. In 2020, while La Giralda’s coffee was at Lirios, the entire lot was stolen. Although they didn’t have too, Lirios replaced the entire lot with their own coffee. This ensured that La Giralda could continue to stay in business for years to come.
When we couldn’t get our hands on another lot from La Giralda this year, we knew we wanted to work with the team at Lirios de Belén and support the wonderful coffees they’re producing, as well as their generous spirit.
